Reflecting on a Legacy: A Journey 25 Years Before

As I unfolded an old, timeworn piece of paper that had been nestled between the pages of one of my treasured books, a wave of nostalgia washed over me.

The invitation to the Homoeo Comp’98, the first complete homeopathic computer show in India, brought back a flood of memories from over 25 years ago.

Held on January 4, 1998, at Delton Hall in New Delhi, this event was a pioneering moment in the history of homeopathy, marking the intersection of traditional healing practices and modern technology.

Back then, I was the youngest speaker amongst a group of illustrious senior homeopaths, merely 34 years old, eager and honored to be part of such a groundbreaking event.

Today, at 60, I look back with profound gratitude and respect for those with whom I shared the stage, reflecting on their invaluable contributions and the indelible marks they left on the field of homeopathy.

Embracing Technology in Homeopathy

The Homoeo Comp’98 was more than just an event; it was a testament to the forward-thinking visionaries who recognized the potential of integrating technology with homeopathy.

Computers, which had already begun transforming various facets of our lives, were now set to revolutionize homeopathic practice.

The event’s schedule was a meticulously planned amalgamation of insightful sessions aimed at exploring the symbiotic relationship between homeopathy and technology.

The day began with a keynote address by the esteemed Dr. Jugal Kishore, whose words set the tone for the day’s proceedings.

This was followed by a compelling talk by Dr. David Kent Warkentin on MAC Homeopathic Software for Windows, showcasing how technology could enhance our understanding and application of homeopathic principles.

My Contribution: Phoenix Repertory

At noon, I had the honor of introducing the Phoenix Repertory, a project that symbolized the dawn of a new era in homeopathy. Standing before an audience of peers and mentors, I felt a mixture of excitement and humility. It was a momentous occasion, one that underscored the importance of embracing innovation while staying true to the core values of homeopathic practice.

A Grateful Acknowledgment

I owe a deep debt of gratitude to Dr. JPS Bakshi, whose vision and leadership made the Homoeo Comp’98 possible. Dr. Bakshi’s unwavering support and dedication to the advancement of homeopathy provided a platform for practitioners like myself to contribute to and benefit from this transformative event. His efforts were instrumental in fostering a culture of continuous learning and adaptation, which remains vital to the progress of our field.

Tributes to Departed Stalwarts

As I reflect on that day, my heart is heavy with the memory of the three stalwarts with whom I shared the stage but are no longer with us. Their names and contributions remain etched in my memory and the annals of homeopathic history:

  1. Dr. Jugal Kishore – A pioneer whose wisdom and insight shaped the very foundation of modern homeopathic practice. His keynote address at the Homoeo Comp’98 continues to resonate with the principles of innovation and dedication.
  2. Dr. David Kent Warkentin – A visionary who foresaw the immense potential of technology in homeopathy. His work with MAC Homeopathic Software for Windows paved the way for many advancements we see today.
  3. Dr. D.P. Rastogi – A respected figure whose expertise and passion for homeopathy were evident in every word he spoke. His discussions on Boger-Boenninghausen Repertory and case analysis were enlightening and continue to inspire practitioners worldwide.

Their absence is deeply felt, but their legacies live on through the countless lives they touched and the advancements they inspired in homeopathy.

A Journey of Growth and Gratitude

As I turn the page from the past to the present, I am filled with a sense of accomplishment and purpose. The journey from a 34-year-old eager to learn and contribute, to a 60-year-old seasoned practitioner and educator, has been one of immense growth and fulfillment. The principles and lessons from the Homoeo Comp’98 continue to guide my practice and teaching, reminding me of the importance of innovation, dedication, and compassion.

Looking Forward

The integration of technology and homeopathy, which seemed revolutionary 25 years ago, has now become an integral part of our practice. The visionaries of Homoeo Comp’98 laid the groundwork for a future where homeopathy could benefit from the advancements in technology, improving patient care and expanding the reach of our healing practices.

As we move forward, let us honor the memory of those who paved the way by continuing to innovate, educate, and heal. Let us remember the words spoken and the wisdom shared at the Homoeo Comp’98, carrying forward the torch of knowledge and compassion for the generations to come.

In gratitude and remembrance,

Dr. Anil Singhal
